Thank you all for this lively discussion on important topics.
While treading my way through the threads of emails and trying to connect
them to the single emails (s/he saids), I made some notes of what I gleaned
and summarized them here:
1) Please use names of who you are addressing and in signing your own
emails.
2) Threading (OL) is totally confusing especially in business meetings.
3) Label discussion topics for easier recognition during the meeting, in
Minutes and Archives, something like: 3.28.2017: Newcomer Discussion.
5.10.2017 Newcomer Page Re-do, etc.
4) It would be nice to have the SC and Treasurer's Reports made at the
beginning of each Business Meeting.
5) I observed three (3) different kinds of "newcomers" mentioned: A. New
to Al-Anon; B. New to OL meetings; C. New to ASP technology. It is my
opinion that each of these topics needs addressing clearly and concisely in
the web pages .. each under it's own topic heading.
6) As ASP Liaison Address is generally your business chair or treasurer or
a long time member volunteer. Having this connection to WSO assures that
ASP's 'permission to quote' will be renewed annually. I saw on one of the
pages Steve posted with site information that this position is vacant.
7) Mentioning to "Newcomers to Al-Anon" that OL meetings are not meant to
replace f2f meetings is still an acceptable suggestion.
8) Suggesting "new" members purchase their own CAL or obtain it at f2f
meetings or via the Area Literature Coordinator helps that new person get
involved, become more interested in "how it works" and opens the door to
further fellowship and healthy relationships. I would suggest this avenue
before planning to spend funds ASP may not have.
9) Possibly way too many acronyms are offered for, especially new, members
to use and understand. I would suggest going back to the old days and Keep
It Simple using ones directly related to Al-Anon, i.e. CAL, KISS, ODAT,
WSO, GR,DR ... etc.
10) I still do not receive my own (single) emails via ASP meetings which
is confusing enough, particularly in Business Meetings.
That's it for me.
