[Businessmtg] OT-urgency is relative

Hi all,

There have been many times in ASP's past when vacancies have existed on the
Steering Committee for months--even years--at a time. Electing a Secretary
IMHO is important, but should not be done in haste. With 11 days left in
the month and a motion currently being discussed, we could only do it in
haste. Additionally, it was NOT ANNOUNCED to the main meeting, so those who
might have been interested in serving in that position didn't have the
opportunity to attend this meeting on that basis. Secretary is a big job
and we should have time to consider any resume(s) put forth.

We would urgently be in need of a chair for the Business Meeting, but as it
can be chaired either by the Secretary or the List Administrator, we
already have a chair and she is fulfilling her responsibility.

We reverted to Robert's Rules at the discretion of the former chair. A
motion was made and seconded. I thank those who have confined their
comments to that topic.
