Why now. In my opinion there are a couple reasons
--unfortunately this has been a ongoing dispute since approximately January of 2016 and prior as one member disputed that the website was ever approved by the Steering Committee. Jane has submitted emails both showing the approval and comments from same individual praising the site originally. Approval of website by the Business Committee would hopefully bring this issue to close.

As Jane also stated the website belongs to ASP and as such it is important that the Business Meeting affirm the site.

The second reason is that the Newcomer Committee is/will be working on changes to the site. I personally believe that the original site needs to be approved before making additional changes.

I have never seen anything in writing that the website had to be "approved".!

If you read Jane's introduction I beleive you will get the full history. For my part through the years based on newcomers questions to the years, I had requested that previous webmasters add some links to the website, both the old site and the new site. Once Jane was elected Webmaster (I think even before I was List Admin. I suggested to her that it would be appropriate to have a link to the Newcomer podcasts on the World Service Office website (Al-Anon.org/members). Jane linked to the Newcomer podcasts on al-Anon.org --This was never referred to the Steering Committee..

After I became List Administrator I received many inquiries regarding Conference Approved Literature, I suggested to Jane that we have a link to the Al-Anon.org literature and she wrote up a section on CAL and included the link.

Again - this was never referred to the Steering Committee.

Again I suggested to Jane that we have a link to the Sponsorship podcasts on Al-Anon. Org as we had so many new members requesting information on sponsorship.

It never occurred to me that the Webmaster could not add links to information that would help a struggling newcomer.

We also obtained permission from the World Service Office to post the Sponsorship Bookmark on the website. This particular item was with the full knowledge of the Steering Committee. More than 1/2 of steering committee sent emails in favour of it. Some did not respond.

> 4. *Who* requested that something be approved?

There have been ongoing disputes in the Steering Committee about the website and I would say that it would be myself, the Webmaster and our previous Secretary that are asking to have it approved.

> 5. *How* will this impact ASP?

I believe that we all want the best for Al-Anon - and A Serenity Place. I believe bringing the membership into the discussion will have a positive impact to ASP. I believe the previous website was lacking information especially for the struggling newcomer.
