Hi Friends:

Our primary purpose in Al-Anon is to help families of alcoholics.  (Tradition 5)

We do that by .......................( don't have to print this out .  .  I would point out though that ourselves is italicized for emphasis.....practicing ourselves)


Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern.  (Tradition 2)


Page 247/248 from Paths to Recovery, "Introduction to the Twelve Concepts" is more than worthwhile reading at this time in our meeting.  I will quote a part that spoke to me:

"We are individuals and have different ideas about solutions to our common problems.  Sharing ideas, exploring alternatives, seeking spiritual guidance ,and using the Concepts help us reach decisions we can all live with.

The Concepts show us practical, healthy ways to arrive at decisions that involve others."


I have been trying to keep up on all the discussions and have printed out many pages, trying to educate myself.  I've reached the point where my mind simply will not absorb anymore, so I've decided to share my thoughts.


If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Adherence to the principles of Al-Anon works.

Progress not perfection.

Keep it simple.


Based on my thoughts (above), my opinion is that we accept the website presented by our WebMaster (thank you Jane, for a Master-ful job IMHO)  and move on from there.  Accepting what has been done does not mean that editing and corrections cannot or should not be made should that be deemed necessary.

The ASP Service Structure states the Web Master "maintains ASP websites.  My dictionary definition of maintain includes "to keep in repair."  I believe that was done with care and proficiency.


We are all  trusted servants, doing our best.  We each deserve respect and compassion from each other, just as we have learned in these rooms the alcoholic does.
