Someone asked who is still around on the business committee, so consider my
hand raised. I'm catching up on the emails, but I have to say, in my
opinion, that all of this bickering is not helpful. For us, for the group,
or for anyone considering joining the group. I joined business and
newcomers with the sole intention of making ASP the best it can be. But all
I hear (read?) are attempts to kill it by drowning it in minutia. I get
that there are guidelines, and I support overhauling the websites
occasionally, but for heaven's sake let Jane do the job that she
volunteered to do with a little trust and an occasional pat on the back.
She is a grown up and knows the rules, too. And it's my observation that
when she doesn't, she asks questions.
As for Steve, I'm not really sure why a grown man, who created ASP in the
first place, would behave in such a way that he would risk sabatoging his
creation out of existence? I guess sharing power is difficult after having
had all of it at one time. Maybe a little leniency once in awhile wouldn't
hurt any of us...principles over personalities is multi-faceted in my
perspective.
It's also my opinion that we've lost site of the goals. And I agree with
those who've said that the past needs to stay in the past, and that we
should move forward. Technology has advanced, and the methodology of
managing ASP should advance too.
>From my perspective, our job is to bring in new members who want help, and
to keep helping the members who we already have. It's not to dredge up old
email conversations or to make running a business meeting so blasted
cumbersome and boring that no one wants to get involved. Or stay involved.
I may be mistaken, but isn't this supposed to be fun?
