I wanted to pipe in with my experience as a former greeter chair. I served 3 years in that capacity and in that time matured in my program. Taking seriously my commitment to new folks and learning from those who’ve gone before us kept me on a path of personal growth that I wouldn’t trade for the world.

I’ve attempted twice to serve recently on the steering committee since and have resigned both times related to my perspective of the absence of healthy interaction within that committee. That was very hard for me to do. I did however, choose my own health and happiness in order to protect my recovery. That said, I can’t speak to the current health of the steering committee and can only offer up my own ESH which is: your recovery is what you make of it. Splitting hairs and arguing semantics keeps us in the spiral that keeps us sick. Simple, concise, honest, RESPECTFUL communication is how we move forward into better health and harmonious ability to gently guide the group. Would I serve again at some point in the future? Absolutely. Would I recommend anyone to serve now? You bet. We need healthy interactions and positive change. I’m hopeful some of you will stand.
