Al-Anon Resume for Steering Committee at ASP --
08/01/17
Date:
 Name:
Jerry Hunter
Email Address:
Service Position in ASP you are available for:
(real name, no pseudonyms or screen names)
 logmark at comcast.net
 List Administrator
 Al-Anon Birthday: 07/10/91
ASP Birthday: Unsure, 2005 neighborhood?
Years: Years:
26 12?
One year's participation in ASP is a prerequisite to serving as an officer of ASP. Participation may take many forms, but merely having one's email address on the ASP server is not participation.
Service Positions held in Al-Anon:
A member of ASP must have served ASP in some other service capacity for 1 year in addition to any other minimum qualifications for ASP Officers.
Face-to-Face Al-Anon:
Literature Chair, Group Treasurer, Group Representative, District Representative, Area Policy Committee
Treasurer, 5 yrs.; Steering Committee, 5-1/2 yrs.; Business Committee, continuous since I joined ASP (with perhaps a rare oversight).
ASP:
Online Al-Anon other than ASP:
Members of Al-Anon who are also members of AA are not eligible to serve as officers of ASP or on the Steering Committee.
No
I would prefer to say that I'm willing to serve. Stepping into this important service position will likely stretch my Al-Anon recovery and also allow me to use my life experiences for the benefit of this wonderful group. With the help of other members I would like to participate in assuring current and prospective ASP members the top- drawer recovery options available here at ASP.
  N/A
Why would you like to serve ASP in this position?
Are you a member of AA?

What changes would you like to see in ASP?
The topic meeting portion of ASP is superb. I would hope we can keep that good thing going. Regarding the Business Meeting: It has become clear to me that some adjustment may be necessary to our expectations of clearing multiple agenda items quickly. Thoughtful deliberations work better for me and hopefully for the group as well.
In general:
Specifically regarding this service position:
I'd like to see comprehensive monthly reports from the LA to the Business Meeting.
What changes do you NOT want to see occur at ASP?
In what way do you feel you participate or contribute to the group?
ASP is successful because of its practices. I do not want to see its Policies and Practices changed without long consideration and a significant Group Conscience deliberation.
Currently I have rotated out of all ASP service positions except the Business Committee. I continue to contribute in the Business Meeting with voice and vote as my Higher Power guides me. I haven't been sharing on topics as much as usual of late which I will think about. I occasionally respond to requests for ESH.
How do you feel about the current guidelines at ASP? [refer to http://asp-afg.org/founding-statement]
ASP's Policies, Practices, and guidelines have made us arguably the most successful on-line Al-Anon recovery meeting. If changes to guidelines can improve us I believe we should consider them, but we ought to do so with caution.

Do you have technical or other experience that you feel is significant for this position?
I am email savvy. If there are new programs I would need to perform the LA's tasks I'm certain that with some patience from all I can get up to speed. My work life required the ability to form concensus in a creative environment. Add to that, I really want ASP to continue to succeed!
Describe your concept of how much time you have available to serve ASP and how accessible you are to the other members of the Steering Committee and the general membership of ASP.
I am online multiple times each day (with the exception of perhaps 20 days a year deep in the woods and purposefully out of electronic range). I am retired but busy with my interests. I would venture to guess that 10 or so hours a week on the computer is within my comfort level. I expect many additional hours thinking things over.
Anything else that you would like to say . . .
Yes. We simply have to make ASP work at all levels. Our Unity is primary. The greatest good for the greatest number depends on it.

Sandie
