[Businessmtg] Point of order

Hi Folks. I would like to bring things around a bit to where we are:

Currently we are in the middle of elections for the List Administrator,
Secretary, and Member at large for SC
The time frame for the List Administrator is until 10/21/17.

The time frame for the secretary and member at large is until 10/23/17

So we are still voting.

Next we had a little discussion about the newcomer committee.

While we were discussing this, or towards the end there was a motion to
approve the website. And in the interim,
before voting, the website issue was brought up and was opened up into the
recovery group to gather more members.
(Which I thought was packing the meeting before a vote). This happened.
There are now three new members in this all follows the ASP policy. Poor
them, no, kidding, sighing..........

Anyway, what does not follow the policy is that we still have other issues
on our agenda to be brought forth *before *any *new *business. New
business would be the website. The other issues are the Newcomers
Committee report and
the treasury report.

Website issue: The problem with the website is that it has become a
controversial issue, in many aspects, some of which have been mentioned and
or touched upon here in this BM.

The last time the website was brought up was in the July BM, it was on the
agenda listed as "Discussion with the Steering Committee regarding the
approval of the website".

Approval does not mean consensus, our process here at ASP, and since there
was no consensus there *is no motion as Kristen and Steve have pointed out.
 *

Now, given this information, furthermore, since this discussion is highly
controversial, it would technically be discussed over two or three business
meetings in a consensus type of ASP way. However at this time,October 17,
we have not finished discussing the original October agenda.

Note: Everyone, and that includes myself, needs to be mindful and
respectful of our program here in the BM. We also need to be very careful
to be aware of interpreting policy changes for the purposes of
consolidating power, i.e. someone's agenda......without using consensus.

And for those of you who are not certain what to do, I would suggest to
either go to the website and review the policies of ASP, to try to
formulate knowledge based decisions, or sit this one out, because making a
decision for the heck of rushing and making a decision is not an informed
decision at all.

So this is where we are folks.

Peace and hugs,
Beverly
