[Businessmtg] Questions

Anne & Jane,
I've come to the same understanding.
The problem some of us are having is where the "line in the sand" is being
drawn.
You see, the motion acknowledges that the "old" website's content was
approved by the group conscience. This is clearly not the case with the
"new" current website content.
Yet, the motion states that we will accept the "new" content in lieu of the
group conscience approved content. The motion goes on to say that
restoration of the website to its previously group conscience approved
content will require a new group conscience by the Business Meeting.
In other words, the motion makes it official that the "new" and unauthorized
content will replace the "old" group conscience approved content.
My question is WHY should the new content, which was never authorized,
become the accepted standard?
What Al-Anon principle supports this action?
Why should the members of ASP have to struggle to reestablish what they
already approved?
Why should ASP place a higher value on the "new" unauthorized content than
it places on its own group conscience?
The word "temporary" in this motion is meaningless. All motions and group
consciences in Al-Anon are "temporary" simply because it is always possible
for the group to change its mind down the road and establish a new group
conscience.
Hugs,
Steve

"The ASP website, as currently posted, be temporarily accepted while the
Steering Committee, the Business Meeting, and/or other created committees
carefully review the differences between the "old" group conscience approved
web content and the "new" posted content for future deliberations on final
content, any agreed-upon changes (as well as any future changes) subject to
group conscience of the ASP Business Meeting."

Hi Sandie,
My interpretation of the motion(s) is that we are establish a line in the
sand. The temporary approval allows us To we work towards fixing
inconsistencies logically and not haphazardly.
And that all changes and updates are done by group conscience and consensus.
And then my words...,That the website is a publication and that making
updates is not based on personal preferences or individual interpretations.
There will be more discussion in future meetings to establish our approach
to remedying.
It is with this understanding that I am agreeing to.
Hugs
Anne
