Secretary
secretary at asp-afg.org
Tue Jan 16 13:56:44 PST 2018
We have just received a submission for the vital Greeter Chair Position,
which provides access for those seeking recovery at ASP.
Here is Anne’s resume.
“ I'd like to step forward for the position of GreeterChair. I will
step down from the
archivist position if I am elected to this one.
Al-Anon Resume for Steering Committee at ASP
Date: 1/16/2018
Name: Anne OHara (real name, no pseudonyms or screen names)
Email Address: aohara77 at comcast.net
Service Position in ASP you are available for: Greeter Chair
Al-Anon Birthday: 1994 Years: 24
ASP Birthday: 2004?
(and for a period of time in 1999 I don't remember how many years then)
Years: 14+
One year's participation in ASP is a prerequisite to serving as an
officer
of ASP. Participation may take many forms, but merely having one's
email
address on the ASP server is not participation.
Service Positions held in Al-Anon:
A member of ASP must have served ASP in some other service capacity for
1
year in addition to any other minimum qualifications for ASP Officers.
Face-to-Face Al-Anon: Group Representative for my home group, meeting
chair
ASP: Webmaster, Treasurer, Greeter, Archivist and meeting chair
Online Al-Anon other than ASP: N/A
Members of Al-Anon who are also members of AA are not eligible to serve
as
officers of ASP or on the Steering Committee.
Are you a member of AA? No
Why would you like to serve ASP in this position? Daily crisis is
behind me. I manage life's surprises
using the tools I have learned through participating in Al-Anon
meetings,
reading and engaging with other
members. Service allows me to give back to this life saving program.
Plus
service keeps me coming back!
What changes would you like to see in ASP?
In general: Nothing! I continue to listen to others who do want
change.
I am always open
to what others have to say and will support change when it aligns with
the
traditions of this
program. Technology and tools change, how we approach the traditions can
change but the
principles of the program do not.
Specifically regarding this service position: There has been a large
gap
in recent years.
Our service positions have sometimes been difficult to fill. I think I
have
the time and
the skills to support this need.
What changes do you NOT want to see occur at ASP? Anything
"substantial"
that doesn't go through the documented steering committee or business
meeting process.
In what way do you feel you participate or contribute to the group?
I have been somewhat absent from the recovery meeting. I do read the
shares
but don't always share experience strength and hope.
I do regularly participate in business meetings.
How do you feel about the current guidelines at ASP?
[refer to http://asp-afg.org/founding-statement]
I support them.
Do you have technical or other experience that you feel is significant
for
this position?
I have a background in publishing and operations. I am comfortable with
many software
programs and I am always will to learn more. If something isn't
documented
I will figure it out
through trial and error. Using this approach I created guidelines for
transitioning other positions at ASP.
Describe your concept of how much time you have available to serve ASP
and
how accessible you are to the other members of the Steering Committee
and
the general membership of ASP.
I check email daily and can carve out time when needed.
Anything else that you would like to say . . .
I continue to be very grateful to Al-Anon but in particular ASP. I love
that it is always here
that there is always a meeting and that there is an online community to
support me.
When my days were regularly dark, I found a tremendous amount of relief
and
support.
Forever grateful, I will always be "plugged" in here.

Yours in service,
Kristen
