Biz-Pals,
As a past ASP Treasurer and current List Administrator I'm more than a little concerned that members aren't stepping forward to serve this fine group of ours. I recall when I was new to Al-Anon how much emphasis was placed on doing service in the groups I attended.
Some service was easy like hanging up the Step and Tradition banners before the meeting. Others required a bit of work, like ordering group literature and having it on hand for sale to members at meeting. Then along came District and Area Assemblies - more experienced members practiced what was called, "Get in the Car." In other words, don't ask too many questions, just get in the car and we'll all drive there together.
I don't know how to do that here at ASP. Still, ASP needs members to perform essential group services no differently than any face-to-face meetings. At ASP we elect our trusted servants from the members of our Business Meeting. The call for resumes for candidates for the Treasurer position has been made, and now, a week later, nobody has stepped forward.
As a past-Treasurer what surprises me most is that no one here seems willing to donate a couple of hours a week for the benefit of the group and it's 1,600+ members. I surely hope to be proven wrong about this. (Believe it or not I have been wrong before.) :-)
Let's hear from you...
Jerry, ASP List Administrator
