Hi All,

I am the one who mentioned having to use my SSN and facial ID to open an
Al-Anon account with non-profit benefits.

1) Go ask your personal or just a local bank what is required to open an
account for a non-profit. All registered meetings are already part of a
non-profit, i.e. AFG, so having to obtain non-profit status for a specific
registered meeting is questionable. I have never had to do that in 40+
years in this program and I have served on all levels more than once each.

2) As an officer/coordinator for Al-Anon meetings, regardless of their
designation, one has to be aware that in some positions it is not possible
to be entirely anonymous ... and treasurer is one such. I had to submit
my Driver's License, phone, home address and SS Card to banks in Utah, IL,
CA (none of which are where I live) just to be a signatory on the account
for the actual stateside treasurer. Same things I had to submit when I was
the actual treasurer. The banks I have dealt with over the years have
required that secondary signature to provide personal information.

If I am elected or volunteer for a business position, I need to be aware of
all that it requires and be prepared to divulge personal information. If I
am not, I don't need to serve in that position. Same goes for
coordinators who deal with public information, meeting lists in newspapers,
institute speakers, providing CAL locally, banking, etc.

If you don't want to ask these questions at a bank, ask other f2f program
trusted servants who are members of *registered with WSO* groups.

The above has been my experience f2f and OL both.

In service,
BJ
