Great question, Jeanette.

Many years ago we set our Prudent Reserve at one year's expenses. Part of the reasoning was that if absolutely everything went haywire the meeting would have enough money tucked away that ASP could pay its bills for a full year while it sorted itself out. We have the time and the means to solve whatever problems which may come up - meaning: we'll figure this out if it becomes necessary.

Keep in mind, also, that there are a number of work-arounds we could put in place temporarily which would allow member donations to keep filling our coffers. Eventually someone will step forward to fill the Treasurer seat, but with a number of past treasurers on the Steering Committee we're well positioned to keep ASP's finances in order.

Ideally that someone would stand for the position sooner rather than later. Being self-supporting as a group calls for a membership which is willing to do the work that needs done. It's good to know that past trusted servants were wise enough to provide us with a financial cushion for just this kind of situation.

As ASP's List Administrator I'd like to ask each member of this Business Meeting to include the possibility of serving ASP in their meditations and prayers. Our Higher Powers will see to our needs in time. We just have to do the footwork.
