Hi bmASPers....
I would like to say that i do not agree with Jerry. The steering comitttee SHOULD NOT be taking on the position of treasurer. This is a question for the bm to decide...This is a direct break in the way that the traditions and concepts are meant to used. I would like to ask the rest of you this question. If you already hold a job as a trusted servant (and we know that we are not to hold two trusted servant positions at the same time per established principles and guidelines in Al-Anon), why is it suddenly OK to allow this to happen in ASP? How do you all feel about fact that the position of treasurer is important to the health and stability of the group and must be held by a separate trusted servant. It is important to remember that we need to remain transparent and that one person holding more than one position at a time leads to the same problems we had before; it leads to dominance and distrust.
I would also like to ask our current treasurer for her input on what the job entails, how much time she put in on a regular basis and how she handled the daily and monthly tasks. How long does it take to do a monthly accounting and to put together a complete report for the bm to see? (I don't know about you all, but I like to know where my money is going.) If we have some input it will make it easier for the bm to decide on a course of action regarding this position. If we in the bm do not make a decision it will fall to the sc and we will not be doing our duty as members of this bm or group; remember we speak for the membership. We have a voice which needs to be heard; and harmony is the key to participation, so lets participate in the process to keep ASP healthy. I would also like ask our current treasurer how much longer she can do the job for us. If she needs to step down, then it would be helpful for us to have an idea how long we could be without a treasurer. One more thought....how much accounting background is actually required for this position? Thanks for letting me share.
hugggsss,
karen c
