[Businessmtg] Treasurer dilemma:

Hi BM members. I haven’t finished digesting what Karen has said. I think,
however, she makes some good points. So I would like to add a few of my
raw thoughts.
On the one hand I was thinking about the same thing that Karen mentioned
about giving the decision to the BM to make whether the SC takes the
position of the treasurer or not.
But OTOH if we just have no one to come forth and volunteer, what else are
we going to do other than allow other members of the SC to help out with
the treasury responsibilities? Not much of a choice. And yes, it is
important to know where the money is being spent, etc...the report, the
details of ASP operating expenses and dispersing them. Also, going to the
post office box to pick up the snail mail checks.
Picking up the snail mail checks I would assume, but not ass-u-me, means
that Jennifer needs to physically go and do that herself because it is in
her area. Is this correct Jennifer? And does ASP have an active PayPal
account or do you just pick up up snail mail? Not sure.
However, I do see a possibility here. When I did the daily chair, it seems
to me there were substitutes to fill in. I utilized this once when I could
not do it. It made it so the meeting went on as scheduled.
So my thought here is that until Jennifer finds a replacement, she could
ask for help from the other members of the SC until a replacement is
found. I think if Jennifer asks for help that would not be a form of
dominance.
Jennifer and SC would have to work that out. OR give the issue to the BM
to decide if we need to make a policy and or guideline out of it that the
SC can substitute for the treasurer if need be.
At the last F2F meeting I attended, the same treasurer has been there doing
that job for at least four years.
Maybe the term here at ASP is too long and warrants a discussion in and of
itself as someone else mentioned. Idk.
Other thoughts?
Peace and hugs,
Beverly
