I have addressed both Karen and Jeannette's questions below. The
answers are my opinions.
karen c --- The amount of time spent with the Steering Committee
varies. In the last 6 months, I would say that time is rarely even an
hour a month. It really just depends on what is happening behind the
scenes. When I first was elected there was a lot of things going on and
lots of personality clashes and I was very overwhelmed as this was my
first service position in Al-Anon. Since that time, Steve, Jerry and
Anne have all been very helpful when I have had questions and always
willing to jump in and help me with questions that I had.
IMHO the length of the term for this position 3 years is a bit much. I
think asking people to commit to that time frame for a service position
may scare some off. However, once you are into the swing of things
time seems to fly by. I am already 1/2 way through my time.
Jeannette ---
I have a few more questions for Jennifer/Jerry/the BM:
Whose name is on the PO Box? I personally secured the PO Box - The
mail is addressed to ASP-AFG
Whose name is on the bank account? The previous treasurer's name is on
the bank account - Melanie
Whose name is on the PayPal account? The PayPal account is registered
to ASP, although I am a designated user (Jennifer)
I see on our website (Tradition 7 page) that the regular fees for ASP
are
$99 for the server, $45 (for 3 years) for the domain name, & $62 for the
P.O. Box. Jennifer indicated the server fee is taken out automatically,
so
I’m wondering how these others fees are paid?
The PO Box in 2018 was $82. I paid for it with my personal funds then
was reimbursed from the account. In 2017 I paid for the PO Box however,
it was my donation to the group.
Also on this page, there is mention of a “prudent reserve.” What I
understand is that this is an amount we want to have in our account to
cover a years worth of bills. Is this a separate account or ASP’s
checking
account? How much is in the Prudent Reserve and are we on track?
The prudent reserve is one years expenses along with the $500 set aside
for the nonprofit and yes, it is in the ASP checking account.
Also, Jerry mentioned becoming a non-profit, I know I’m new, did I miss
the
meeting when it was decided that ASP would file to be a non-profit? When
did this occur? I was not part of the SC at the time it was decided
so can not answer this question.
In service, Jennifer
