Hi all.
I like what you have shared about potential newcomers guidance,,, etc.

I, for one, would be willing to take part in a newcomers meeting,
Perhaps a 1/week Step one, separate from the regular meeting.
OR
We have a f2f here in town specifically for newcomers, and from what i have
heard, it allows all sorts of (un)alanon-y stuff to go down such as cross
talk, questions about religion and what alanon is NOT, which rubs me the
wrong way, (as it should) but i think when a Newcomers arrives, they need
to TALK A LOT. Ask questions that are not appropriate in a regular
meeting,,,
Hence I do believe a newcomers meeting is a good idea
HOWEVER, this meeting ALSO shares how normal" Al-anon meetings function.
So that when a newcomer finally goes to a regular meeting, there are
guidelines, such as no XTalk, and timed shares, and no other agendas
(religion, therapies, outside issues) except al-anon subjects.
I am all over the map here with what I wish to convey to you guys...
Oy. it is early:)

But the gist:
Newcomers meetings are seemingly important, as I see it, as it explores the
ins and outs of why and how and what Al-Anon is, and allows a newcomer to
blow off steam in a safe setting, but also sets them up for success in the
regular ASP/f2f meetings!

As Jerry stated, I am thinking a list of folks willing to sponsor, online,
is a bit creepy. Did not think of that until just today!
It ought to be mentioned, though, if we do decide upon a newcomers meeting,
how and why sponsorship is so important, and how to go about finding one.

Caveat: How long is a newcomer considered a newcomer and should there be a
one and done with a nc meeting?!
Or can a person continue in a nc meeting fo-eva if they wish?
I don't think so.
My deep, lol, thoughts for this early morning.

Love ya
Alison
