I am NOT in favor of physical packets being sent to newcomers. That is My
vote.
However, i think an online one should be provided.
AND super easy to find.
Like the link should say:
NEWCOMER PACKET.
simple and easy.

It took me some time to come to this conclusion---as i recall my first
packet. and LOVED it. Helped soooo much!
But it truly seems nearly impossible to keep up with that job. and the cost
seems too high.

As far as what some others have said: We are responsible for our own
recovery. well NO DUH! but a newcomer NEEDS guidance PERIOD, no matter
what, as they are NEW.

I had Zero clue about what alanon was until i was shown the "ropes."
Then and only then was I able to use those First tools of recovery to
Jump-start my actual personal recovery.

It is like saying: here is your desk at your new job. GO!!!!
Uh. huh?
Where is the copy room? Who do i report to? what are your expectations on
certain projects? Who can i call or email if i need A. B. C?
No one is expected to understand something until shown how to do it.
Plus a newcomer is probably highly inundated with insane life stuff and
their brains probably arent up to speed?!?
Showing them CALs, that it is ok to email one person if they wish, how to
post,, ( NOT what to post), and what certain words might mean.
Such as "qualifier."

What alanon actually means.

and so on....

And then let em go at it!!!

Newcomers need a bit of guidance. Period.
