[Businessmtg] FW: Discussion on motion

Thank you Kim.

I believe that Kim's suggested language is a much better representation of what I heard in our discussion, with the exception of the closing part about purging the existing archives.

The way Kim worded the logic behind purging makes sense to me because she explained how she arrived at her position rather than just saying "I'm for it" or "I'm against it". The goal is supposed to be to arrive at an INFORMED group conscience and SUBSTANTIAL UNINIMITY, not just the minimum votes to pass a motion.

My issue is that right or wrong, ASP does own an archive containing 12+ years of shares. If we are going to do something with the existing archive, then we need to reach a consensus ON THAT POINT before any action is taken.

Look at it this way . . . We've been putting empty cardboard boxes in a shed where we store about 1/2 ton of bird seed. So, let's say we decide to stop putting boxes in the shed and destroy them instead (think recycle). OK, that's great. But, nowhere in there is a decision to empty the shed.

Comprende?

Please understand that I am not saying that we should not empty the shed or purge the archives. What I am saying is that we have not had a discussion and consensus on that point, and therefore that point does not belong in a group conscience. Yet.

Love and SERENITY,
Steve

I’m happy to hear from two more members. It did move me forward.

I’d like to include ‘ASP’s practice of archiving’ in the motion and the
adherence to Al-Anons Traditions since our continued conversation was
traditional which moved us to a consensus. Thank you Jerry for keeping
track of the discussion.

I suggest
A motion for ASP’s practice of archiving personal shares be discontinued to
promote common welfare and past personal shares without an informed group
conscience be purged.

In gratitude,
Kim
