[Businessmtg] Lowering Greeter requirement

Hi Everyone,

Thanks Anne for introducing this topic and the reasons for suggesting
possible change to Greeter requirement.

A sense of belonging was wonderful for me as a newcomer.  I needed to feel
capable again.  I really needed to belong while everything else in my life
was falling apart.

My concern with lowering the requirement is time...
Time for the gift of focusing on myself to sink in and be okay.
Time for the gift of actually getting a sponsor.
Time for gift of working the Steps
Time for the gift to feel loved without payment.

Service is for fun and for free.  Not a have to but a want to (attraction)

We’re here for help because like me we lost our focus.  That takes time.
Service certainly is a piece.
Sharing my feelings and how I am using an Al-Anon tool took time and was
service to the group that didn’t take from me.  It added to my cup that had
been empty a long long time.

I don’t want to take away the time for the newcomer.

I do believe new members with years of recovery is a gift to this format.
Many 65 and older have been in service using technology for years.
