Hi ASP Friends:

Thank you, Jerry, for this discussion.  I was very surprised to hear that it is difficult to get Chair people for our meetings.
I have been here (ASP) for a few years now, have chaired twice, and have been turned down twice because there were so many volunteers, and I had indicated I had done it before, but would be willing if needed.
Times change.

As a sponsor, I strongly encourage my sponsees to do service in this way, and those who have been so afraid have ended up so grateful - I'm not saying anything any of you don't already know.

In regard to the 6 month requirement, I don't see the necessity of limiting it to 6 months at ASP.  We have many new people who have indicated they have months and years in the program, yet don't 'qualify' to chair because of this requirement.  I suspect if they step up to volunteer, we are missing an opportunity by saying "no."

Honestly, I groan inside when the same people keep chairing and I feel refreshed when it's someone who hasn't done it at all, or hasn't done it often.  Yes, that's my issue not the groups, but I felt the need to say it.
