Thank you Jerry for bringing up this topic and everyone who keeps ASP
working as smoothly as it does.

Like others, I chaired a meeting early on in f2f meetings, the difference
being, it was a one time thing and then would come back around again in
several months.

Signing up for a 6 month stint is a big commitment for true newcomers -
although I agree that it would certainly make you focus on your recovery,
but I think letting a newcomer (less than 6 months) chair would require a
sponsor/mentor/go to person.

However, having years in Al-anon, just not on ASP, I think should be
reviewed on a case by case basis.  The experience and commitment is there,
just maybe not the technical skills.

On an aside, I have been here 2 years and twice was rejected as a Chair
because the positions were already filled.

My view is a case by case review by the Steering Committee in instances
where the requirements are not met exactly.
