[Businessmtg] Resume Questions

Hi Mary and thanks for standing for treasurer. As you probably know, we
have had some problems with trusted servants in the past, so I need to do
my due diligence. A couple of questions popped into my head when I read
your resume.

You said you have been in Al-Anon for 36 years, off and on. I'm sorry but
I can't think of a way to say this politely, but I've learned to
wonder what that really means. Has the person been in Al-Anon and working
a program for 36 years, or have they spent many of those years practicing
the disease instead of recovery? Ordinarily, this wouldn't be my business
but when I'm considering voting for someone to hold a major service
position, this becomes an issue for me.

My other question is about your service background. As I understand it,
serving as an officer at ASP is a lot more than just doing the job. The
members of the Steering Committee need to make decisions based on ASP's
written policies as well as Al-Anon Traditions and Concepts. What I'm
trying to say is that I'm more concerned about someone having an
understanding of how to apply Al-Anon principles and following ASP
guidelines than I am in experience on outside executive committees. Can you
speak to this?
