Hi ASPers,

The early shares on the "LA and Founder Roles" topic were consistently for
making some changes, primarily some kind of committee to support the List
Administrator by dealing with the thousands of emails received every month.
Unfortunately, it seems that few noticed the comments in my report that
described in a general way how few of those emails actually needed to be
read. Hence, my note Tuesday night that outlined the types of emails the LA
receives and why less than 2% of them need to be read and attended to.

Another significant issue related to other members accessing the List
Administrator emails and "helping" is that in order to "help" those people
would need to have the same access to the server that the List Administrator
has. IMHO, that poses a huge security problem for ASP. I know that Al-Anon
likes to call its volunteers "trusted servants" but the reality is that not
all members of Al-Anon can or should be trusted. I personally know of two
face-to-face Al-Anon "trusted servants" that stole tens of thousands of
dollars from Al-Anon. I also know of at least 3 instances where a trusted
servant of ASP violated that trust and accessed the server and either made
changes on the server or used the information that they gleaned from the
server for their personal use. I could go on about this issue, but I'll
save it for the next time.

Our objective in Al-Anon is to reach an "informed" group conscience. A
majority opinion without being informed is just an opinion and doesn't meet
the higher standards of Al-Anon.

Since we have run out of time allotted for this discussion, I'm tabling this
subject.

Moving on to the next topic for the Business Meeting:

"Address the participation requirements for topic chairs - Jerry"

Jerry, the floor is yours.

Love and SERENITY,

Steve
