[Businessmtg] Daily Chair Requirements

I believe that the requirement for 6 months of membership in ASP before
serving as a Daily Chair is a valid requirement.  I too, have seen the
problems that arise from lowering the bar to serve in Al-Anon meetings.
There are lots of electronic Al-Anon meetings, yet ASP stands out as the
best and most successful.  Why?  Because it is structured, it has
requirements, it has good leaders and it follows its own rules.

I agree with Georgia that giving the Secretary blanket authority to allow
discretion amounts to telling the Secretary the 6-month requirement is only
a suggestion, which is the same thing as telling the Secretary that we
really don't have a requirement.

The problem is that it is easier for the Secretary to say yes to someone
that doesn't meet the requirements than it is to say no.

I would consider giving the Secretary discretion, but only after the
Secretary has posted at least 3 announcements of the openings and only
after getting approval from the Steering Committee.
