I second what Cindy said. When there aren't enough volunteers, it's nice to
hear the person say, "well, then it won't get done until someone steps up."
Also been in meetings where the treasurer or secretary will step down at
the end of their term and say, "My term has ended, so I am stepping down."
I hear it as a statement of faith in the group.
