[Businessmtg] Motion 4 response to Linda F

Linda F had a concern about eliminating the webmaster position since the
secretary position does not appear to be 'web-savvy' and the webmaster,
by definition, does. I would like to address that.

The current website is built in WordPress. WordPress is a software
program that makes changing and updating a website *not* dependent on
technical knowledge. Think of it more like PowerPoint - people can make
pretty great presentations thanks to the templates and 'drag and drop'
ability. WordPress has templates and 'drag and drop' functionality as
well. WordPress keeps all the technical stuff in the background. It has
a pretty good help section, and there are tons of free sites / youtube
videos that walk through everything WordPress is capable of.

I do very little website maintenance - the updates required of this
position are more like what a recording secretary would do - update the
names of the daily chairs, the greeters, keep track of the motions, set
up a voting poll (there's directions thanks to Anne O) - stuff like
that. To call this a 'webmaster' position is, to me, quite a misnomer.
While I can update individual pages, I do not have the permissions to
make major changes to the website.

I view this proposed change to eliminate the webmaster position and
create a recording secretary position that reports to the secretary as a
positive change. I feel it reflects more of what the tasks of the
current webmaster actually are - which are recording secretary tasks. It
also creates a stepping stone for possible future service on the
steering committee, since the recording secretary position would fulfill
the one year of service requirement.
