Hi folks,

I am pleased to announce that I have received a resume from Alison for the
Group Representative position.

I have copied the text of her resume below.  A copy will be posted on the
website.

The next week's discussion will be dedicated to Q&A regarding Alison's
resume.  Since there will be little or no time to discuss issues that
members may wish our Group Representative to present at the Area, I will
allow some of that during this Q&A period.  

This discussion will end next Sunday, November 14th at Midnight, Pacific
Time.  At that time a link to a poll will be posted, the Business Meeting
will be placed on moderated status to prevent any posting during the polling
period.  As usual, the polling period will last one week, ending on Sunday,

Are you a member of AA? NO 

Why would you like to serve ASP in this position? 

I wish to take my recovery to the next level. I also want to understand the
traditions, concepts and warranties better, and I know being a GR will help
me gain that knowledge. I am good at working with others, fair, and am
willing to do the work asked of this position. I value Al-Anon more than
anything else in my life and wish to constantly be some part of it. I also
think it would be fun! 

What changes would you like to see in ASP? In general: 

I want to see more folks attend the business meeting, to have a say in the
goings on. I also wish to put in place something that disallows certain
members to bully other members, as I have become privy to witnessing,
recently. I'd like to see more daily participation in response to chair
topics. Change some of the wording in the guidelines. 

Specifically regarding this service position: 

I don't know yet. Perhaps conduct a group Inventory, once per year? Make
sure we are safe, and still fully pure Al-Anon. 

What changes do you NOT want to see occur at ASP? 

Don't change the 6 month rotation for chairing. It perfectly works the way
it is. 

Continue to keep quotes to CAL. 

In what way do you feel you participate or contribute to the group? 

I do service in the form of chairperson. I contribute to the group by
sharing my esh at least 5X/ week, regularly. I sponsor several women from
ASP and am sponsored by a woman in ASP. I attend business meetings, and even
if I don't speak up, I listen intently to them. I reach out to newcomers and
when someone asks for direct esh, I give it if I have it to give. I also am
working the Traditions with an Al-Pal from ASP. We share our answers to the
T questions from Paths to Recovery, workbook. 

How do you feel about the current guidelines at ASP? [refer to
http://asp-afg.org/founding-statement] 

I don't think #3 is being upheld because there is bullying and lots of
anonymity breaking, sharing other's shares with outside folks, as well as
other members. 

I think #5 is finally becoming a 'known entity,' where we fit into both the
Al-Anon world and the electronic world. Perhaps it needs rewording. 

What is No Flaming? Maybe re-word this, whatever it does mean exactly. 

There are many who have a bunch of stuff, non-Al-Anon, at the end of their
emails, where they work and political affiliations and advertising, etc,,,
links, and I think it might be a good idea to suggest to these folks to
REMOVE or change to a different email for ASP. It is not appropriate for
ASP, Al-Anon. 

Do you have technical or other experience that you feel is significant for
this position? 

I know how to use email! I am unsure if there are other tech experiences
necessary for an online meeting. But if there are, I will learn them. 

Describe your concept of how much time you have available to serve ASP and
how accessible you are to the other members of the Steering Committee and
the general membership of ASP. 

I am accessible mornings, CO time, from appx. 6:15-8:30AM. 

Periodically throughout the day, and between 6PM and 7:15/30PM 

Anything else that you would like to say . . . 

I would love to be a GR here, the first one... although I do feel nervous
about it, I feel like I would be a great contribution to our group. 

I am ready to commit.
