Hi Lynne,
Thanks for your comments. Now to answer your questions:
1. Correct. The recommendation is to allow the Secretary to appoint an assistant, but not require it. This is similar to the Greeter Chair that appoints a committee of greeters, yet no where do we tell the Greeter Chair how many she must appoint or is allowed to appoint. Some have appointed one, others have appointed as many as 7.
2. Correct again. The objective is to develop a consensus that replaces the current Motion #4 in its entirety. So, if you like the idea of rolling the Web Master into the Secretary's job and allowing an assistant, then share what you like about it. OTOH, if you don't like having a Group Rep, or what the wording is for a Group Rep, then speak your thoughts about that when the time comes.
Hugs,
Steve

Thanks Steve for the background to this motion! And to you and the other steering committee members for your work on this and all other aspects of keeping ASP running.
I am in favor of eliminating the webmaster position and rolling the duties into the Secretary and recommending that the Secretary to appoint an assistant.
I have two questions just so I can understand how things work a little better. But my support doesn’t change with the answers. :)
First, the Secretary is recommended to appoint an assistant, but not required, right? So having an assistant could vary by Secretary - or even a Secretary could choose to have an assistant for a year and then go without for the remainder of their term?
Second, I believe you mentioned in a previous business meeting that even though we are discussing each of these 3 parts of motion 4 separately, there will only be ONE vote to revise motion 4 that will include ALL of the updated text for motion 4? So we can’t vote yes on the Secretary part but no on the group representative part? It is yes to all of it or no to all of it?
Thanks!
Lynne
