All,
The recommendation for the changes to the treasurer piece does make sense to me and I fully support the language changes there.
The minutes of the meeting may not be as easy to do and I think we need to really think about the impacts to know tracking and recording minutes. Steve did mention some challenges with recording or summarizing the business meeting. We need to remember that the Steering Committee positions are volunteer AND administrative in nature. So we need to consider the time spent on developing minutes that capture whatever it is folks have in mind. My thoughts follow....
Secretary and Meeting Minutes:
-Who proofreads those minutes? What if someone doesn't agree with the minutes that are shared?
-What if the secretary doesn't follow through. Believe it or not, every one of us on the SC has missed things from time to time, including follow through on motions that have passed. So to Steve's point there could be legal issues if we miss something that is embedded in the by-laws. I definitely do NOT think that meeting minutes should be part of the by- laws.
-Can we instead simply post the agenda bi-monthly and then at the end of the month note on that agenda what the status is and direct people back to the archives if they want more detail?
There is probably more but this is all I can manage right now 😊
Hugs....

These seem like very simple adjustments to the language that give some flexibility to the treasurer. I also like the idea of the minutes not including our personal email addresses and names as it stands now and it does not seem like a large burden to place on the Secretary. I would support making these changes. Thanks Mary!
Hugs,
Lynne
