Hi ASPers,
I have the pleasure of presenting the resume from Lynne for the List
Administrator position on the Steering Committee.
Because server tends to mangle formatted documents, I have posted Lynne's
resume on the ASP website where it should be easier to read. Click on this
link

The next week will be devoted to reviewing Lynne's resume and Q&A with her.
We will move on to the next item on the agenda next Friday evening, March
18th.
Love and SERENITY,
Steve
Al-Anon Resume for Steering Committee at ASP

Name:
Gwendolyn Swarbrick (nickname is Lynne)
(real name, no pseudonyms or screen names)
Email Address:

Service Position in ASP you are available for:
List Administrator
Al-Anon Birthday:
~3/15/2020
Years:
2
ASP Birthday:
~3/15/2020
Years:
2
One year's participation in ASP is a prerequisite to serving as an officer
of ASP. Participation may take many forms, but merely having one's email
address on the ASP server is not participation.
Service Positions held in Al-Anon:
A member of ASP must have served ASP in some other service capacity for 1
year in addition to any other minimum qualifications for ASP Officers.
Face-to-Face Al-Anon:
ASP:
Greeter
Online Al-Anon other than ASP:
Members of Al-Anon who are also members of AA are not eligible to serve as
officers of ASP or on the Steering Committee.
Are you a member of AA?
No
Why would you like to serve ASP in this position?
I want to be of service to ASP. Now that I am eligible as I am nearly at the
end of my 1 year greeter term, I've been trying to decide between applying
for the List Administrator or the Secretary, but after looking into both
positions, I would like to take on the challenge of the List Administrator.
What changes would you like to see in ASP?
In general:
I would like to see more people who are eligible to serve as elected
servants to apply to serve. In the two years that I've been here, several of
the steering committee positions have been vacant at any one time. I don't
know how this can be accomplished, but it is the biggest thing I'd like to
see changed at ASP.
Specifically regarding this service position:
I can't think of any changes to the position, but I haven't served in it
yet.
What changes do you NOT want to see occur at ASP?
Anything that changes how the general meeting works. This meeting has been a
lifeline to me and I want to help ensure that ASP is around to help as many
people as possible in the years to come.
In what way do you feel you participate or contribute to the group?
I share on most topics daily, but at least 4-5 times a week. I also have
served as a greeter since May 2021 and attended almost every business
meeting since I joined ASP.
How do you feel about the current guidelines at ASP?
[refer to http://asp-afg.org/founding-statement]
I feel they are working well. It has taken me a while to understand them
more fully as I had never been to Al anon prior to coming to ASP. But
attending business meetings has helped a lot to understand why the founding
policies are what they are. I also understand that they are pretty much
impossible to change since it would require 75% of the full ASP membership.
So it would be my responsibility, if elected, to follow these policies, even
if I came to disagree with any of them.
Do you have technical or other experience that you feel is significant for
this position?
I am computer literate, which I hope is all that is required. I spend all
day on my computer.
Describe your concept of how much time you have available to serve ASP and
how accessible you are to the other members of the Steering Committee and
the general membership of ASP.
As mentioned above, I spend my work week on my computer working mostly from
home, so my time is flexible. I feel I would be able to give anywhere from
2-3 hours a week, up to 5-10 hours or more a week, depending on the week. I
am also responsive to emails.
Anything else that you would like to say . . .
I have never been in a face to face meeting, so ASP has been my only
exposure to Al anon. I have really enjoyed working on the greeter committee.
It was my first experience with service at ASP or Al anon and it has been so
positive - such a great group of people!! I have really grown in my recovery
by being a greeter. I was nervous when I started because I wanted to do
everything "right", but found that Kelley was so supportive as the greeter
chair and that making mistakes was ok. If I am elected as List
Administrator, I would imagine that there would be a similar learning curve
and that I will make mistakes. But I feel I am up to the challenge and that
this is something I can do to move forward in my recovery as well as be of
service to ASP. I appreciate being considered to serve as List Administrator
when my term as greeter is concluded in early May.
