   Hello Friends,

I would just like to make some personal observations regarding myself
and my opinions regarding the Steering Committee recommendation.

I was present during what were some of the `tumultuous times.'
However, I had not yet attended a lot of ASP Business Meeting and did
not totally comprehend the history or the picture. Some of the changes
that were made seemed simple and no big deal to me. I thought the
intentions and motivations clearly just wanted to clean things up and
make things more simple. As time went on and I listened and learned, I
saw that it would have been as if someone came into my f2f meeting and
revised the Traditions or the Steps. We have group conscience how our
meetings are conducted and someone arbitrarily changing that would have
been corrected. It took me awhile, however, to comprehend what was
really going on as the `traditionalists' worked to keep ASP's strong
Al-Anon principles. While new blood is always encouraged, I think this
is a good example of the value of experience.

In addition, I admit after several years participating in the Business
Meetings, I have felt frustrated at what I have perceived as decisions
never being made and it taking `forever' to make decisions. I have
never, ever felt unheard even though often not agreed with. Lol I'm
glad I've not given up and continue to attend because every time I see
the strength of the Traditions being adhered to and I'm learning to
stop comparing ASP with f2f meetings. Same program, different
   situation.

Today, I feel the decisions that are made serve "the greatest number"
   (Tradition 1).

Bottom line, I do not believe the recommendations of the Steering
Committee come lightly or frivolously. They are our "trusted servants"
(Tradition 2), and I support their recommendation and suggested steps
   to carry it out.

   Hugs, Linda
