There has been much great input on changing (or not) the prior service
requirements for SC eligibility.  I've only been here 2 years, and never
held a SC position before. Some days I still feel and thus react like a
newcomer. I have to bow to the wisdom of long timers Jerry and Steve, who
warn of the pitfalls of placing unseasoned members in trusted servant
positions.

I am comfortable with Motion 25- SC vetting those who don't meet prior
service requirements and presenting selected persons to the BM for voting.
This should give our overworked SC members a break from performing multiple
jobs, by allowing them to look for suitable candidates if no one with 1
year prior service steps up.

At this time, my gut says it's not in ASP's best interest to open SC
positions to anyone with 6 months service without prior SC interviews.
Yes, we (the BM) could ask more questions of those with less experience.
But will we? Attending previous business meetings,  I've seen us thank
people for volunteering,  but very few,  if any, questions. Speaking only
for myself here, I don't feel I would know the best questions to suss out a
candidate's suitability to serve without altering what has worked for this
group in the past.
