Good morning, All, Thank you, Steve, for providing context. This is complex stuff! There are a lot of factors to consider.
Marilyn's answers make sense to me. Her concerns resonate with me. It seems like we need more information on the rationale for the proposal, advanced notice before decisions are made and more time to deliberate. I wonder if members of electronic meetings, especially email meetings, tend to be newer to Al-Anon thus less able to piece together the nuances of the discussion.
I am not in a position to offer solutions or suggestions and defer to those of our members who have more experience in how things are usually done, to make sure that electronic meetings are given agency in making decisions that affect us.
Thanks,Jenel

Hello group,
Let me start by saying, I have little experience with Area and District
structure in Al-Anon.
Steve presented some questions in his recent email, my answers are as
follows:
"Are we OK with these recommendations as they were presented?"
No, not without further explanation of the rationale behind the breakdown
of districts. As others stated, each type of electronic group has unique
challenges. Lumping the small number of email groups with a large number
of Zoom groups virtually guarantees that Zoom will dominate any discussion
and decision making process.
"Are we OK with the GEA taking control of the group's autonomy to decide per
the Service Manual? "
No, this is not okay. I feel as if the GEA task force is trying to force
their decisions for district breakdown on the groups. This is contrary to
Tradition 2, Concept 1, and Warranties 3 & 5 as I understand them.
"Are we OK with the ambiguity and vagueness that permeates the Task Force
recommendation?"
As stated above, I'm uncomfortable with this. I'm not understanding their
rationale for the proposed District breakdown.
"Are we OK with the GEA waiting to announce deadlines, meetings, Assemblies,
etc. until the last minute?
Or do we need to direct the GEA to develop a calendar of future events?"
There should, imo, be an annual calender
of events and meetings, and at least 2 month advance notice of unscheduled
meetings.
Thanks for listening,
Marilyn
