[Businessmtg] Trusted Servant resumes

Hello Marilyn,

Thank you for reaching out. Taking on a service role with ASP will help me grow with my Al-Anon tools. I sometimes have a hard time listening and jump to make a decision too quickly. A challenge I may face is hearing everyone's point of view and understand a decision takes time to make in Al-Anon, which leads me to Tradition 2, "For our group purpose there is but one authority—a loving God as He may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but
trusted servants—they do not govern." Allowing everyone to share and not govern the meeting.

Tradition 9, "Our groups, as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve." I like to be organized, so this may be challenging for me when there is no organization, however, I will remember tradition 9.

Also, Concept 10, "Service responsibility is balanced by carefully defined service authority and double-headed management is avoided". This concept will help me know that everyone will have a voice, and we are working together as a team to gain more knowledge of service in AlAnon.

I am looking forward to the role of GR in the steering committee.

Thank you,
Kathleen H

Subject: [Businessmtg] Trusted Servant resumes

Hi biz-pals,

I would like to thank all the candidates who submitted a resumes. It makes
my heart happy to see so many volunteers!

Because we often experience the most program growth from the biggest
challenges, I would like to ask each of the applicants what they feel
might be the biggest challenge in their role, and which Al-Anon tool, Step,
Tradition or Slogan they would employ to overcome that.

My personal example as it applies to attending ASP business meetings: I
fear speaking up in meetings. I am always afraid I will say the 'wrong'
thing and be judged, reprimanded, or ridiculed. I face this by applying
Concepts 4 and 5. They tell me that every voice counts, that the group's
health is strengthened when I participate, and that Al-Anon is a safe place
to gain confidence in speaking of my personal ESH and ideas.

If this question to the applicants is inappropriate, please disregard.

Hugs,
Marilyn
