Good morning,

Thank you for this discussion and information.

I think there may be a few people who are misunderstanding this topic.
My understanding is that the archives include all personal shares from the
daily recovery meetings since your first email. Please correct me if I am
wrong.

My initial stand on this topic was that I believed the archives should
be deleted. Then as a member of the SC I did see the advantage of having
them accessible for our use, during an issue we were looking at. I
even considered changing my opinion.

I can only speak for myself, In my years as an ASP member I have not
had a reason important enough to access the archives at all, nor do I use
them as a daily tool. In fact I only have accessed them once or twice,
just since this discussion began to see what is there.

Personally, I can save emails. I can see the emails I have sent if I
would like to track my own personal progress, and I can save anything I
deem important. What other people do with my emails, I certainly understand
it is beyond my control. As far as I am personally concerned, I would
prefer that my emails are not archived and I do believe that in doing so,
we are compromising the anonymity of Al-Anon members. Someone has
mentioned that once a member leaves ASP they no longer have access, but we
still have access to their shares.

I realize that no one to our knowledge has ever had the archives
accessed to use them against another. Although we have never in 20 years
known of anyone to gain access to our meeting under false pretenses,
Safety is a huge concern of mine. Just because it has not happened, doesn't
mean it couldn't.

I don't give anyone permission to use my story and the information I
shared here in my years and if I want more information about any one of the
members, I feel most comfortable reaching out to them directly.

I am aware that the LA uses the archives to report some information to
the BM. Lynne, my question is: Is there any other way that you can access
the information that you report to us? And what value if any does this
information provide to the group? Is it informational only or information
that we would use to implement changes? Is it possible for the archives to
be available to only those on the SC whose job description has a need to
access this information?

After much thought, weighing what I see are the pros and cons, based on
the information that I currently have and listening to other long-time
members' reasons to eliminate the archives, I have to stand with my
original opinion that we should delete the archives.

    Yours in service,
   Jennifer (Greeter Chair)
