[Businessmtg] Archives

Hi all!

For several days, I have been going through the business meeting archives to familiarize myself with the points that have been raised earlier. Like someone else stated - at first, I found myself agreeing with everyone! The more I read, the more I am considering the benefits of eliminating the recovery archives for the many reasons that others have articulated.

The only thing I see in favor of keeping them is that it IS clear when you join, that there are archives! I know that many people do not read all the information available on the site, but that is on the individual. Same thing happens in f2f meetings. Norms are stated at the beginning of every meeting (phones off, no crosstalk, no mention of other programs, etc...) and yet there are those who don't turn off their phones, use crosstalk, and talk about their AA program; then they're surprised if they're called on it. We can't compensate for human inconsistency. We can only provide the information. If we decide that the archives are needed for business purposes, perhaps we can clarify the point to the membership and the greeters can emphasize that for new people.

My bottom line at this point is no archives for the recovery meeting, just the BM, but I am willing to be satisfied if the vote goes forward with keeping them. I appreciate everyone's input on this matter.

Ever grateful,
Sheila
