Hi Beverly,

A. This is an example of why off-topic issues are discouraged in the Business Meeting. The issue being discussed in the Business Meeting at this time is the wording of the motion on the floor - Motion #28. We are not discussing the meaning of Motion #22, nor the misunderstandings of Motion #22, or anything else for that matter.

B. The full membership of ASP was put on notice that the archives would be discussed in this Business Meeting, and that it was for the 3rd time. As with any Al-Anon meeting, it is the members that choose to attend their business meeting that get to participate in the process of making group decisions. Those that choose to not attend also choose to not participate, and as a direct result of THEIR CHOICE have neither voice nor vote in the decision. Remember, not making a decision is also making a decision.

Love and SERENITY,
Steve

Subject: [Businessmtg] Vote: Full Membership or not

Hi folks. The information brought to light by Jerry and Steve is interesting. Thank you.

So, according to motion #22 the full membership is not included in the process of removing the full membership access to archives. This can be done without their knowledge or consent…..

motion #22 says “ changes to ASP policies require a 2/3 majority of subscribed membership of business committee “ and also that “ the secretary may impose 2/3 majority requirement on any significant or controversial issue. “

Question: Does the secretary have a part or choice or responsibility in
including or not including the entire ASP community in this vote since this motion/vote involves everyone in the community? Or do they just stick to the BM members?

Thanks folks,
Beverly
