Hi friends,
Since my last report, I have updated the website with the outcomes of our
last business meeting and attended one Steering Committee meeting.
Preparing for the business meeting included compiling the agenda topics and
then meeting with the Steering Committee to review ahead of posting the
announcement to the Recovery meeting. I am looking forward to another month
of chairing this meeting; continuing to practice and build my skills
facilitating the discussions.
As noted in Tammy's List Administrator report, the Secretary role remains
vacant. I am filling most of that role with support from Jennifer, ASP's
Greeter Chair. Jennifer recruited the current set of chairs, got them setup
for their weekly responsibilities, and supports any questions they have -
the recruitment and 'training" is bi-annual.
On service and the open position:
Al-Anon service takes many shapes and has infinite rewards. We look forward
to filling this position. The information below has been shared before, I
am resharing it.
In addition to being a member of the Steering Committee and backup to the
List Administrator, the Secretary has 3 main jobs:
* Recruiting/training daily chairs. A new batch of chairs were recently
recruited and trained - they started July 1. Our Greeter Chair, Jennifer
stepped forward and covered this job. Thanks to Jennifer we have a new
round of chairs supporting our recovery meeting!
* Maintenance of the ASP website. This is done on a cadence that follows
this approach- generally during the first week of the Business Meeting after
the Treasurer sends the financial reports. In addition to posting those to
the website, changes in personnel (greeters, daily chairs, trusted
servants), and the business meeting agenda as well as any topics for future
business meetings. And while the Secretary is responsible for the
maintenance of the site, no changes can be made without Steering Committee
and/or Business meeting approval.
*Chair of the Business Meeting. The BM is every 3 months instead of every 2
months thanks to a recent group conscience, this is much more manageable. It
does require one to be "on" during this month and reading the BM emails
daily as well as communicate with the Steering Committee as necessary on any
issues that arise during the BM. The secretary will also meet with the rest
of the Steering Committee by zoom about 2-4 weeks before the start of the
Business Meeting where there is a discussion related to the agenda for the
BM and any other Steering Committee business.
In addition to these 3 main jobs, the Secretary can appoint a recording
secretary to assist with the Website maintenance and any other support needs
assigned to them by the Secretary. Information related to this "new" role
