Thank you Anne for posting the links to the pages and to Steve for all the
work on the draft.

Since this is the first time I'm joining the discussion, I'm looking
forward to hearing from Steve about the background to this topic.

I did notice that the existing page cites Tradition 5 after the welcome
sentence and before the paragraph about meetings.  Steve, when you fill us
in on the background to this topic, could you please share your thinking on
why you decided to take that out for your draft new newcomers' page?  And
my apologies if I'm asking you to repeat something  you've already
explained it in a previous business meeting.
