Good morning.
   
  In considering the idea of sending packets to newcomers...
   
  I think CAL is a very important part of Al-Anon. The question is how to safely make it available.
   
  When I first joined Al-Anon, it was an on line group.  I felt safe and anonymous.  This was critical for me.  Although my physical safely was not an issue...my A was less than thrilled to learn I was sharing our "secrets" to strangers.  
   
  It took months before I had the confidence to go to a f2f meeting and then I went 45 minutes away.
   
  My anonymity is not  a concern for me today , however, for many it can be a life threatening issue. Many people in this program face explosive anger outbursts and physical harm. I would hate to think this could happen if a spouse opened a packet from us.
   
  In that light...should we decide to do this...........we would, IMHO, need to be sure that the person understood that this material could be upsetting to the A and be sure it arrived in an unmarked envelope.
   
  Regarding the excess funds....I am not clear on  what would be best for ASP. I can see our issues with both entities.  I do think representation in WSO is important if we are to be considered a legitimate part of Al-Anon.
