At this time, based on the conversations taken place here and in the meetings themselves, I think blindly handing over the excess to the WSO is unwise as well. I think we need to host a current needs assessment conversation. It is only in group conscience discussions that we discuss the intention of the money donated. We obviously have to discuss further the decision to continue to send welcome packets and if so our introduction of these packets to newcomers. Without having someone managing our web in however long, our new webmaster may discover additional costs in updating our web. I also believe given the continued conversation that revolves around significant amount of membership looking for an avenue to enjoy "meeting after the meeting" opportunity since recent conversations state we do not currently have that option, we may wish to enhance our current online connection. To me that expense if far superior to the benefit of our members
than paying for a room at a conference for people to log online to share for the sake of Al-Anon. If the actual goal is to promote the online option at the conference, than we need to specifically state that as the real intention. And I need to reflect on that. I believe that the online option holds value for those who are too remote to have a face to face meeting, do not have healthy meetings near them, or for some other reason can not make it to a face to face meeting. But to say that we wish to fund a room for people to share on a computer when they could actually talk to others in person makes no sense to me. Just my thoughts, in no particular order.
