Emee and all Biz-Pals,
The back story regarding the curtailing of donations to the
WSO, quite frankly, began with one strong personality who
reasoned that since the WSO doesn't do much for on line
groups that ASP ought look elsewhere for making donations
(my summary, not this person's words.)
The business meeting took this up and passed a motion (as
noted in one of my past shares here in this meeting) to stop
making WSO donations until the Business Meeting had resolved
certain and defined issues.
As Treasurer I was not about to go against the Group Conscience
by continuing making these donations. So that's the reason WSO
donations stopped. This Business Meeting decided it should be
so.
My regret, here in this month's meeting, is that we seem so very
close to resolving one of the reasons for not making donations:
that we accept the WSO as the sole appropriate benefactor of any
Excess Funds we donate. I have heard nothing but agreement that
this point reaches the "consensus" threshold. With days left
in the month - and perhaps with a few days borrowed from March - we
could put this to a vote and perhaps resolve one part of the difficulty.
Then we could wrestle with the "how much" and "prudent reserve/booklet/
chat room" parts of that past motion in our next meeting. After years
and years of awaiting the opportunity to resolve this it seems a shame
to be so close to making some progress only to set it all aside once again.
Exceptionally discouraging that we are not being allowed, once again,
to agree where we agree. Some of us have been waiting for this topic
to even get to the Business Table for years - a problem in and of itself -
only to see it slip away completely unresolved .
