A person who comes knocking the doors of ASP regardless of whether he/she
attends f2f is so desperate tht needs a daily dose of sharing n listening.
What he might be going through may be much more beyond the topic of the
day. Off topic encourages the person to open up and receive valuable Esh.
There had been times when I had been in despair and requested esh. The
number of responses i got made me connect better with the group and showed
me a different perspective of how I could handle issues. If not for esh i
would have gone back to psychiatric medicines. There may be many more like
me. From that day on I wanted to reach out everyone in despair and misery.
As for too many OTs , it is always a choice to not open the mail and read
it when we are not in a state of mind to do so. There could be a separate
folder for ot which could be read later and answered or straightaway delete
it. Not allowing members to share what they are dealing with on that
particular day would discourage them from sharing whats in their mind.
It is important to support each other at all times. Recently someof the
members lost their near and dear ones. If not for OT they would not receive
the love and support of the group. While a daily topic keeps us focussed on
a particular principle of alanon to be practiced that day, OT from
suffering members gives us an opportunity to reach out to them which helps
us look deep into our own selves and gives us a new way of looking at
things we did not consider before.
