Hi all,
Steve addressed the points I pointed out in regards to the website. Thanks for your service.

I agree with much of what Karen pointed out. From what I have seen in the short time I've been active in ASP, there is significant governing in the background of ASP and because of this, it isn't very probable that certain changes will be implemented at this time. In short, the governing I see tends to push aside, deny, or excuse these matters, which are challenging the dominance, and so these matters go unaddressed and justified, and as a result the governance manifests other in issues as well. So, unless governance and dominance are addressed, addressing these other issues is more like putting bandaids on scars, and it also asks that we cosign the dominance by participating without discussion. This is common in face to face groups as well. Minority voices or voices which challenge the dominate opinions are polarized, or pressured into conforming with dominant members wishes, and our concepts and traditions are designed to help us avoid this. And since there are no police in Al-Anon, it's a hands off policy for those who see an issue. We can bring it to the attention of all, but that's the extent of the action, unless others are willing to cooperate in discussion. The voice who challenges dominance is not always right, but they should be heard, and their matters discussed in light. In our case, however, I do see issues with governing and dominance, and little interest in changing it, so based on my previous experience, my level of participation will be minimal and I'll only contribute my ideas when I feel they are supportive and helpful or when I'm asked directly, and mostly remain observational, unless I see a shift in intentions by those dominating. What it comes down to for me, from my own experience, is that those who dominate will not stop or let go without a fight, and that's a battle I don't engage in. If members wish to dominate, there's nothing I can do other than bring it to the attention of others and participate as a helpfully as I can. I have learned for sure that the worst way to combat dominance is by being dominating in return, this adds fuel to the fire, and the best way to combat dominance is by letting those dominate members experience the dignity of their actions, which usually results in membership decline and an eventual closure of a meeting. So, although this discussion wasn't on an agenda that I'm aware of, I thought I would share my own experience since some have expressed concerns.
I appreciate the opportunity to share my thoughts with the BM on this and I appreciate Karen bringing light to some important issues.
Kindly,
GB
