Hi All.
I am of the belief to keep it simple sweetie. That being said, at this
time I am on the fence as to whether ASP needs an actual separate committee
to discuss new comer issues.
I think we as a group, can discuss topics related to newcomers right here
in this meeting.
I do like Jerry's suggestion of the Basic ASP Starter list.
I do not see anything in the founding policies about podcasts, phone
numbers, skype or anything else.
Personally I have had experiences with people and phone numbers. My
sponsor had suggested to me to build up an email dialogue with someone
first before exchanging phone numbers. The purpose was to see how serious
the person is about recovery and to protect myself from some big fat hairy
someone trying to do whatever, not related to program.
She also explained to me that if they follow thru with email suggestions it
may be likely they want to help themselves instead of just complaining.
This format seemed fair to me and is working well for us.
FYI, in my area, I have not seen any phone lists.
I tried to put it into practice and I found people want a bandaid. I am
polite and friendly, keep my boundaries, mind my business.
I have answered many newcomer requests for ESH. In my sharing emails, I
always say welcome newcomers.
These are my thoughts for the moment.
Beverly
