Biz-Pals,
I think it's important to note that ASP once had its website content
approved by a Group Conscience. During the initial website redesign
phase a few years ago some of our text content was altered in ways which
did not comport with that group conscience (GC) - some significant
things were changed without GC approval. We had to return to the
approved text. Keeping the new design and the old text content was not a
simple cut and paste job. The older website was in one format and the
new design was in another. This created some major problems which needed
someone who had the computer skills, patience, and knowledge of our
group's Founding Statement, Policies, and practices to carry out the
site's rebuild.
This Business Meeting (BM) is being asked to put its stamp of approval
on the work done to accomplish this. The only way I can think of to
convince BM members to okay this work is to state that some degree of
trust needs to be put in the BM members who have been around ASP from
the earliest days - those who have the "institutional memory" to confirm
the accuracy of the good work that has been done. I'm not choosing to
name the person we enlisted to do this work; they may wish to hold onto
as much anonymity as they can. I can tell you with full confidence that
this person has been around from the earliest days, is very familiar
with all things ASP, has no motive other than ASP's well-being, is one
of the few to have the skills and knowledge to have been able to
accomplish this task for the group, and has my complete trust. I am very
grateful.
With the website text content now returned to its formerly approved
state we need also be concerned about the necessity of keeping future
unapproved changes from ever happening again. In order to assure this I
think ASP needs to be specific about its process for site content
changes. So-called "housekeeping" changes can certainly be made without
BM approval (office holder names, typos, updates, etc.), but changes
which make any structural changes or changes to our Policies and
Practices must first pass through the Steering Committee and to the
Business Meeting for consideration using ASP's Group Conscience process.
I am in favor of approving our website content as it is now posted. Any
details which may require edits con be handled using open discussions
and decisions. By approving it as it now stands we all begin on a new
page with an updated Group Conscience and we can move on in unity.
I hope we can get to this stage in the next couple of weeks by arriving
at a motion we can all support.
In service,
Jerry H.

The first thing I want to say is that I did not do the wonderful work
which has returned our website content to its group-conscience-approved
state. Steve, our founder, graciously agreed to do the grunt work which
accomplished this.
