Do we want to consider lowering ASP's group participation requirements
before members can stand for non-elected ASP service positions?"

My Experience:
ASP is the only electronic meeting I have ever attended. I am not a
founding member, nor a part of the group conscience that formed our current
structure. I trust the process, however. I welcomed opportunities to be
useful to ASP, because of my F2F meeting service experience, which began
from the time I picked up my head.
Someone grabbed my hand and showed me “how it works”.

My thinking both ASP Greeter and Chair, non-elected positions, because of
there time commitment of 6 months, and being the first introduction to
Al-Anon for so many, should stay as written.

I believe what’s missing electronically is the introductory person to
person contact. Just like someone grabbed my hand and showed me, included
me, encouraged me and answered questions. Service then becomes apart of
the recovery journey and not a choice but the way.

I think we maybe doing harm to newcomers, ASP and Al-Anon as a whole by
looking at lowering requirements to fill positions.

I also believe a member with years of F2F recovery that includes service is
a gift to electronic meetings and a missed opportunity to our group if we
use the same requirement standards.
