[Businessmtg] Chair Requirements

I’ve been in al Anon almost three years, and ASP almost two. I volunteered to do the weekly chair when I had been here about three months, was told I didn’t have enough time. Then the next time it came around I volunteered (had over 6 months at this point) and didn’t even receive a response back. Finally I reached out after the new chairs were introduced, to see why I never got a response. Still not so sure what happened there. Anyway, this time around Steve wrote me back almost immediately, and they were filled. The only reason I ended up getting my slot was because someone stepped down last minute. 

I think we should keep the 6 months, because I do think it’s crucial someone see how ASP is ran. Even if you have 20+ years in al Anon, ASP is not a f2f meeting. However, could we say something like “ASP has a recommendation daily chairs have 6 months with ASP before chairing, however, it’s the secretaries decision to allow a newer volunteer if not enough step up.” That way we are asking for a certain amount of time, but if you can’t fill it maybe you could make an exception. Just my thoughts. Although, I really don’t see this is an issue. We seem to have plenty willing volunteers.
