Biz-Pals,

Unfilled service positions have left us with fewer and fewer members participating in Steering Committee (SC) decisions. The only objections I have to moving the webmaster duties to the Secretary slot are that this further diminishes the variety of input and opinion available on the Steering Committee in its discussions and decisions, and more power is given over to fewer people than the Group Conscience has previously determined was appropriate.

Making decisions on the topic of the transfer of webmaster duties to the secretary BEFORE the Business Meeting has decided on the Group Rep issue - in particular whether or not the GR would have a seat on the SC - leaves us with no assurance that the number of seats on the SC would at least stay the same as it is. Were the GR position NOT pass, or if it did without it having a seat in the SC, we'd have even one fewer SC seat.

I suggest that were we to eventually have motions and votes on these two issues that the Order of Business would place the GR motion(s) and voting first followed by addressing the moving of webmaster chores to the Secretary.

~ If a GR position were approved AND it had a seat on the SC I'd have no problem with the webmaster duties being moved to the Secretary's domain.
~ However, if the GR position were disapproved, OR approved WITHOUT it having a seat on the SC I would certainly be against us losing a seat on the SC and would therefore be against eliminating the Webmaster position.

Losing one more seat on the SC is unacceptable to me.
